1 Manifestations Live24–05-16Drawing from Professors Maurice Wallace and Andrew Parker’s theme of Voice: Sound, Technology & Performance for the 2023-24 CCA Seminar, artist Ikechukwu Sharpe, musician Akari Sage and architect Shaina Yang proposed 1 Manifestations Live: an interactive sound installation housed within Seminar Room 6050.

Consisting of strategically placed audio speakers and one digital mixer, the installation will feature 1 Manifestations: a music composition comprised of original scores, archival recordings and personal conversations, guided by an original sermon of Lazarus' resurrection by Reverend Scott Adams.

Utilizing the digital mixer, visitors will be able to freely manipulate the composition, increasing and isolating sounds, or even reimagining/reinterpreting the installation by changing what sounds come from which audio speaker. All the while actively participating in Rev. Scott’s multiplicity of life lessons, transcendent sounds and raw emotions for the intention of instilling hope.

Through the intentional use of sound and technology, the proposal demonstrates the physicality of sound by exploring how voice and music affects our body and mood.
