2 Viruses in America,” 2020. Face paint and eyeshadows.

2020 has been the most eye opening year thus far. There have been many losses due to Covid-19, and additionally we’ve seen the continuation of police brutality, targeting the black and brown community. This piece highlights the two viruses that are not allowing black and brown people to breathe. POC are in communities with limited resources and have higher death rates due to Covid-19 and police brutality. This piece symbolizes the fact that black and brown people CAN’T BREATHE and we are ready for freedom and justice. Period!

“When They See Us,” 2020. Face paint and eyeshadows.

"When They See Us” is based on a true story that highlights the injustices that are still relevant, today in America. After watching this series, I felt a wave of emotions, which I depicted in my art. I felt proud to share my art with the world and I was thankful for the feedback that I received. Ava DuVernay and Asante Blackk saw my art and I was thrilled to know that they embraced my work. This piece is one of my favorite to date, and I hope it continues to be a statement as we work towards justice.
